Construction begins on Cullen Oaks expansion

Breaking News Staff

Construction began Dec. 21 on a $17 million expansion of the Cullen Oaks student housing complex, according to the project's developers.

The four-story expansion will include 354 beds in fully furnished one- and two-bedroom apartments with a mix of private and shared bathrooms. American Campus Communities, which developed and manages Cullen Oaks and Bayou Oaks, is building the addition.

Cullen Oaks, which opened in 2001, and Bayou Oaks, which opened in 2003, are located on property leased from UH.

The new section of Cullen Oaks is set to open in the fall.
