Lyttle is Player of the Week

Cougar Sports Services

In their best start since 1991, the Lady Cougars have their first foothold on the AP rankings, coming in at No. 22 in the poll released Dec. 6.

Helping their way into the AP poll was an impressive win over No. 14 Purdue in the last week of November, when the Lady Cougars were ranked 24th in the ESPN Coaches Poll.

Senior center Sancho Lyttle was named Conference USA Player of the Week after a stellar performance in the Lady Cougars' last three games, in which Lyttle averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds per game.

With their AP debut, senior center Sancho Lyttle also picked up a Conference USA Player of the Week award for her performance in the Lady Cougars last three games, each one a tough but important road win. During the three-game stretch, Lyttle averaged 50 percent shooting with about 18 points and 11 rebounds per game.

The Lady Cougars next see action today in Honolulu against the University of Hawaii in the Paradise Classic.
