As a scholar, Hawkins scores -- again

Cougar Sports Services

Whether it's putting them on the board or improving her GPA, UH senior midfielder Nikki Hawkins knows how to score points. Her abilities on the field and in the classroom won her honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Wednesday.

Hawkins was named to the Scholar-Athlete All-South Region Third Team, the second time she's won the honor. In 2003, she was named to the second team.

Hawkins is the top offensive player on the Cougars' roster and was the second leading scorer in Conference USA after tallying 26 points last year, a career high. She's the six-year-old program's all-time leader in scoring, with 63 total points.
