The following is a partial report of campus crime between Jan. 3 and Monday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 7:56 a.m., Jan. 3, Lot 11A circle drive A student was dropping off her children at the UH Child Care Center. While inside the building, an unknown individual entered the student's unsecured and unattended vehicle. The suspect stole two children's lunch boxes from inside the vehicle. The suspect then left the area in a green sports utility vehicle that could not be located. Investigation is ongoing. Occurred between 7:45 and 7:56 a.m. Jan. 3. 

Burglary of a motor vehicle: Noon, Jan. 3, Lot 15D East A visitor reported she parked her vehicle and proceeded to a building on campus. The visitor reported that when she returned to her unattended and secured vehicle, she discovered that the window had been shattered and her wallet inside the vehicle was stolen by unknown person(s). Occurred between 11 and 11:20 a.m. Jan. 3.

Theft: 2 p.m., Jan. 3, University Center Games Room A staff member reported she placed her purse down on a table and left it unattended while she ate lunch. When the staff member returned to the table, she discovered her purse was gone. There are no suspects at this time. Occurred between 12:58 and 1 p.m. Jan. 3.

Theft: 9:46 a.m., Wednesday, Melcher Hall, Room 315-E A staff member reported a UH fax machine was stolen from a secured room. No suspects. Occurred between 5:10 p.m. Jan. 3 and 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Theft: 11:25 p.m., Wednesday, University Center Satellite Games Room A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her cellular phone from a UH campus building and made unauthorized phone calls from the phone accruing a large telephone bill. There are no suspects. The investigation is ongoing. Occurred between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Oct. 21.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 8:17 a.m., Wednesday, Lot 15D A staff member reported that unknown person(s) broke out a glass windowpane and burglarized her secured and unattended vehicle. Occurred between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Jan. 3.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 3:39 p.m., Thursday, Lot 15F Multiple unattended and secured vehicles were burglarized and damaged. There are no suspects. Occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Burglary of a motor vehicle: 12:36 p.m., Saturday, Lot 15A A visitor reported several parked vehicles had the windows broken and some juveniles were seen riding bicycles between the parked vehicles. UHDPS officers located the juveniles but could not determine if they had caused the damages to the unattended and secured vehicles. The juveniles were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings and released. Occurred between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Assault: 5:47 p.m., Sunday, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center A fight broke out between a student and a visitor. The subjects were fighting as a result of overly aggressive play on the basketball court. The student punched the visitor. No charges were filed at the request of the victim and both subjects were released and the student was issued a Student Life Referral. Occurred at 5:47 p.m. Sunday. 

Theft: 12:27 p.m., Monday, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library 3rd Floor A student reported his unattended laptop computer was stolen. Occurred at 12:25 p.m. Monday.
