Shakespeare in Love is an impressive film about the writing process behind Romeo and Juliet. Included in the stellar cast are Joseph Finnes as William Shakespeare and Gwyneth Paltrow as Viola De Lesseps, Shakespeare’s love interest.

Though simple, the story is capable of winning audiences of all ages.

Ben Affleck makes a splash in the highly touted Shakespeare in Love, a film that combines a classic storyline with a modern flavor.

The plot begins with a young and brilliant William Shakespeare attempting to write a new play while suffering through writer's block. Part of the problem is that he has no inspiration, no one whom he can love, which makes it difficult to translate feelings of love for another human being onto paper. But then, in a timely fashion, he meets Viola De Lesseps and together they live out the romance of Romeo and Juliet.

If you're worried about the dialogue, don't be. It’s not in the typical Old English that often accompanies Shakespearean films but rather in a more modern dialect, easily understood by today’s society.

The acting, the entire cast is superb, keeps the film light and enjoyable. Judi Dench (Oscar nominee for Mrs. Brown) stars as the lover of plays, Queen Elizabeth. Also appearing in the film are Oscar winner Ben Affleck (Good Will Hunting) and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding) as Shakespeare’s competition in playwriting.

Shakespeare in Love is filled with witty dialogue, good acting and beautiful scenery. What more could a moviegoer ask for? Go see the movie, and I guarantee that you'll walk out feeling satisfied.
