UT's Robertson to don Cougar red

The University of Texas' sophomore running back Chris Robertson will transfer to UH according to an interview in the Denison-Sherman Herald-Democrat.

Robertson scored 10 touchdowns on 19 carries as UT's short-yardage specialist in 1999.

The 6-1, 213-pound back from Denison is a versatile player who can either be used at fullback or tailback, the latter of which is his preference and the reason for his transfer.

Robertson will be ineligible to suit up in a Cougar uniform next season because of NCAA guidelines, but can join the squad for spring practices in 2001 and will have two years of eligibility left when he makes the 2001 roster.

At Denison High School, Robertson was a three-year prep star who was tabbed with honorable mention all-USA honors by USA Today as a senior. He rushed for 2,553 yards on 311 carries and scored 35 touchdowns during his senior year in leading Denison to the Class 4A Division II final.
