The Houston swim team will hold a dual meet with Southwest Conference rival Texas Christian today at 7 p.m. in the UH Natatorium.

The Cougars have not competed on campus since they held a dual meet with Louisiana State Nov. 18, at which the Tigers came out on top, 166-114.

But after picking up its first victory of the season last weekend against Western Illinois at the Miami (Fla.) Quadrangular meet, members of the team say they are excited about today's TCU match.

"It's been a while since we've done anything (at home)," said swim coach Jane Figueiredo. "The team is very glad to be back."

Houston will again be at home to host Miami Jan. 27 in a rematch of a meet in which the Hurricanes outscored the Cougars 70-41 at last weekend's meet in Florida.

Senior freestyle specialist Alex Heyns is ranked in the SWC's Top 10 in the 100-, 200-, 500- and 1,000-meters.

Freshman Nicki Mercier has come on strong recently after a slow start and has swam in times less than a minute in the 100-meter butterfly.
