Saturday's Gallery Furniture Games to be held at the UH Athletics/Alumni Center is scheduled to showcase the world-class talents of 30 Olympic athletes, seven of whom are former gold medal winners.

But Cougars track athletes Sheddric Fields and Darius Pemberton have also jumped into the field to try and show the meet's veterans what they are made of.

Senior Fields comes into the meet having already qualified for the March 8-9 NCAA Indoor Championships (long jump event). Fields had a qualifying jump of 25 feet, 11 1/2 inches at the UHMeet Jan. 20, held at the Athletics/Alumni Center.

Junior Pemberton will also compete in the long jump Saturday, but was just off an NCAA-qualifying time of 7.28 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles event at last weekend's meet at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Pemberton finished with a time of 7.33 seconds, winning Saturday's event.
