For the Cougars, Alicia Rodriguez is serving as a great defensive presence while Shunta Hart and Chiara Combs have put up consistent numbers for Houston offensively. DePaul's backcourt isn't the best in the conference, but junior Anne McDonald is always a player to look out for at both ends of the floor. Fuschia Forrester is another offensive force to reckon with.
Call her butter because Jennifer Jones is on a roll. The recently named Conference USA Player of the Week averaged 27 points and 13 rebounds in the last two games for Houston. Mfon Udoka of DePaul isn't doing too bad either. She averages 20.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.6 assists and is shooting 54 percent from the field. This is definitely the hottest matchup to look out for.
The Cougars' freshman sensation Sharonda Lasseter leads UH in rebounding (6.5 per game) and is averaging about nine points a game. DePaul's Sara Burge is a solid defensive presence inside and is known for grabbing the offensive boards. Last year, averaging 15 minutes, she totaled 55 rebounds, 45 of which were on the offensive end.
Fleceia Comeaux has provided a dependable offensive spark off the bench for Houston, averaging 10.8 points. Laronda Walker has also been a vital part of the Cougar's bench scoring 14 points in a win against UAB last week. DePaul's reserves consist of a plethora of underclassmen, so inexperience could play a role in a close game.
