Renovations to the University Center's American Café are on schedule and should be completed by Aug. 3, three weeks before classes begin for the Fall semester, but work on the Houston Room will have to wait.

Before I commence my perfunctory tirade for the week, I would like to apologize for flaking out on last week's column. I know that missing the recommended weekly dose of sarcasm and unsurpassed wit can cause both an emotional and a chemical imbalance in some readers.
