Hey, is this thing on?: Toastmasters International, a club devoted to the improvement of public speaking, will meet every Thursday at 6 p.m. alternating between the Atlantic and Pacific Rooms of the UC Underground.
Christian musicians: The Fellowship of Christian Musicians will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. in the second-floor chamber music room, Moores School of Music.
Clay Pigeons: The Student Program Board will hold a free screening of Clay Pigeons at 7 p.m. at AMC Meyer Park 16. Tickets for the screening are available in Room 59 of the UC Underground.
Workshop: Allied Health Professions presents the UT Medical Branch in Galveston present an application workshop, for members only, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the UC Bluebonnet Room. If anyone is interested in participating, applications are still being accepted. Students interested in joining should come by Room 206, Science Building.
B.O.S. party: Engineering student organizations and the Engineering Alumni Association will hold a beginning-of-the-semester party from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. between the Engineering D, D3 and Y Buildings.
World AIDS Day: The Wellness Center will hold the first planning meeting for the UH World AIDS Day Committee, at 2:30 p.m. in the UC. Anyone who is interested in helping plan World AIDS Day on Dec. 1 is invited to attend.
Test your writing skills: Students who plan to receive a baccalaureate degree from UH are required to demonstrate writing proficiency prior to filing for graduation. The Fall 1998 Writing Proficiency Examination is scheduled for Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Oct. 10 at 9 a.m.
Registration for the exam will resume until Sept. 25. Students wanting to register should stop by the second floor of the Student Service Center.
