Coogs Fall to Tulane
|UH track finishes second to UT

The University of Houston men's and women's track and field programs competed in the UH Indoor Track Meet. The event was held at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse in the UH Athletics/Alumni center.
Both the men and women placed second as the University of Texas squad ran away from its competition.

The final team standings had the UT women first with 127 points, UH at 93 and Tulane with 74. The men's final team standings had UT with 167, UH with 87 and UT-Arlington at 75.
Eight different Longhorn men won individual events and tallied nine total events after they won the distance medley.
The Cougars, who have come to be accustomed to John Davis killing the competition, won the shot put competition, as he beat his nearest competitor by 9 feet. He beat his teammate Ryan Alvey who finished second at 16.15 meters.
Other men who placed were Vance Reyes, who finished second in the 3000-meter race. In the 5000-meter heat Omar Leon also finished second with a time of 15:16.
In the pole vault, two Cougar men placed. Michael Brookins and Bill Collins finished second and third respectively. Joe Collins finished first in the triple jump.
On the women's side Jenny Adams continued dominating her competition. She won first in both the 60-meter high hurdles and long jump. She has already qualified for nationals.
Vernetta Rolle won her 800-meter race, as did Denise Darre in the pole vault.
Katie Herndon was second in the weight throw and Michelle Hickman placed
third in the triple jump.
