The UH Women's Association is now accepting applications for the 1999-2000 Mary Harding Hoffman Scholarships. The two categories are: scholarships for children of UH employees and the Ella Margaret Hawes Women in Transition Scholarships.

There are two $1,000 scholarships for the children of full-time employees of UH. Students who are, or will be, full-time students in the 1999-2000 semester may apply if they fall into one of the following categories: entering freshman, undergraduate or graduate student in good standing, incoming undergraduate or graduate in good standing.

These scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement and leadership qualities. Previous winners of the awards are not eligible. Applications must be postmarked on, or no later than, March 31. For more information, contact Joan Linsley at (713) 661-8801 or by e-mail at JoanTex@aol.com.

The two $500 Ella Margaret Hawes Women in Transition Scholarships will be awarded to women who are faculty or professional staff members, wives of the same or women who are members of the UH staff.

Applicants must be enrolled in a University-approved degree program. Scholarships will be awarded to "women in transition" based on merit, motivation and need.

Deadline for submission is March 31. Interested applicants should contact Bonnie Monsanto at (281) 494-4604.
