Members of the Students' Association Election Commission and SA adviser Josey Evans worked late into the night Thursday to count the 2,616 ballots cast in this week's SA general elections.
The results of the student government elections will be announced at 2 p.m. today in the University Center's World Affairs Lounge.
Students' Association adviser Josey Evans, left, and Election Commissioner Kim Webb count ballots from the SA general election Thursday night.
Everyone from the candidates to the election commissioners seemed surprised and pleased with the voter turnout, a drastic improvement on the 217 votes cast last year.
"While it's a little overwhelming, we're pleased with the turnout, and we attribute it to the fact that voting was open to all students, making it very accessible and easy," Webb said.
Runoff elections for president and vice president will be held March
22 and 23 if necessary.
