March of Dimes on campus this year

Cougar News Staff

An orientation meeting will be held today for anyone planning to participate in a walk team at this year's March of Dimes WalkAmerica, which will take place at UH on April 30.

The campus will be a walk site for the third consecutive year, playing host to hundreds of people helping raise more than $2 million for healthier babies. WalkAmerica is one of the largest charity fund raisers in Houston.

At least one representative from any department planning to organize a walk team, or any individual who wants to participate in the event, should attend the orientation meeting at 1 p.m. in the University Center's Bayou City Room.

"Being the 2000 official host site for WalkAmerica, we really want to have a strong UH presence by having as many teams as possible," said Scott Sherrill, UH marketing manager and a WalkAmerica public relations committee member.
