Boylen, Murphy interested

Cougar Sports Services

Houston Rockets assistant coach Jim Boylen has shown interest the vacant UH head coaching position, as has Rocket great and color analyst Calvin Murphy.

Wyoming's Steve McClain and Southern Methodist University head basketball coach Mike Dement have reportedly been contacted by athletic director Chet Gladchuk about the position, according to ESPN.

Boylen has been with the Rockets for eight years and has been on the sidelines along with head coach Rudy Tomjonovich for the last four.

Gladchuk, who was in Indianapolis this week for the Final Four, has said that there is no timetable for the hiring.

Most recently, he replaced former UH head football coach Kim Helton in 21 days with Dana Dimel.

UH assistants Reid Gettys and George Walker also have their hats in the ring, but ESPN reports that Gladchuk is looking for someone with Division I head coaching experience.
