University administrators have temporarily restored a policy on staff dismissal in the wake of concerns over revisions allowing any staff member to be dismissed without cause and without the opportunity for appeal.

In Opinion Today . . .

The Board can't say that it was not warned. As early as February, forecasters predicted that a savage weather system was headed our way. At present, conditions could not be worse and the Board's unresponsiveness has helped bring about the perfect storm. The atmospheric conditions that created this fury actually began two years ago when barometric pressure began to drop and early warning signs went unheeded.
