Fitzgibbon apologizes for summer comments
Members of the Rugby Football Club practice Thursday on the Cullen intramural fields. The club will play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rice; call (713) 867-3960 for information.
Wednesday's meeting of the Faculty Senate began with an apology from Senate President William Fitzgibbon.
The apology was in reference to an article in the July 15 Houston Press
in which writer Tim Fleck examined the number of women in upper-level administrative
positions at UH.
For those of you who don't remember or didn't read it, last week's column
involved my lamenting some recent weight gain and my desire to be a thinner,
healthier person. I ended with a note resolving to lose the weight I've
recently gained and figure out what to do with it. I was watching the news
one day when it finally came to me: liposuction.
Two icons of American music will share the stage tonight at the Cynthia
Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Paul Simon and Bob Dylan will conclude their summer
tour in Texas, which includes a 7:30 p.m. show tonight at The Woodlands.
The UH volleyball team (4-5, 1-0 in C-USA) used a balanced hitting attack and junior hitter Michelle Frazier outblocked the Bulls as UH defeated USF 3-1 (18-16, 15-7, 6-15, 15-8) in front of 237 fans Thursday night.
