Official decision: no football bowl for UH By Josh Gajewski
Daily Cougar Staff

The end of the Cougars' football season, reported in Tuesday's issue of The Daily Cougar, became official Wednesday evening.

Brigham Young University was invited to the Motor City Bowl in Detroit, which in turn sends Louisville, not UH, to the Humanitarian Bowl in Idaho.

The story was first reported Wednesday in The Salt Lake Tribune, which said ESPN had "quite a bit" to do with BYU's selection. The network, which airs the Motor City Bowl, is said to have wanted to air a matchup between BYU and Marshall (11-0), the school that is in line for the bowl's other invite.

UH posted a 7-4 mark this year under former coach Kim Helton, the same regular-season mark that sent the Cougars to the Liberty Bowl in 1996.
