About the Cougar

We're Baaa ...  aaack!

Welcome to the first issue of the 66th year of The Daily Cougar.
Stay tuned for changes to the Web site in the near future.

In News Today . . .

The Student Government Association passed two bills during its Aug. 16 meeting, one dealing with conflict of interest concerning the president's ability to sit in on an investigative committee and another creating a Greek Community Day.

In Opinion Today . . .

For those who have been out of town, out of reach, out of range or simply out of sync, the sacred world of academia has succumbed to the pressure of popular culture. In addition to cougar-laced billboards, UH's new image campaign now includes reality-based programming. Over the summer, loyal fans have tuned in daily to witness the latest episode of UH Live: Surviving Big Brother.

In Entertainment Today . . .

Summer has come and is on its way out the door. One of the most reliable forms of entertainment during summer is going to the movies. So now that summer is ending what can we expect to see on the big screen this fall?

In Sports Today . . .

When the Cougars prowl across town to feast on the Rice Owls in the season opener Sept. 2, the Bayou Bucket spotlight will be shining directly on UH's new head coach, Dana Dimel, and the posse of coaches he's gathered from the wild west.
