Inclement weather halts Cougar Baseball, Softball

Cougar Sports Services

Cougar fans who were looking for some field action Wednesday may have found themselves wet and alone.

The UH baseball and softball teams cancelled competition against nationally ranked opponents because of the recent deluge of rain Houston has seen since Tuesday.

Cougar Baseball (14-16 overall) was headed across town to Reckling Park at Rice to either end the run for the Silver Glove or continue the series for the full five games. Game 4 might not be rescheduled, but the Cougars might not need five games to take the series from No. 2 Rice.

Cougar Baseball cancelled its match-up with No. 2 Rice because of the constant rain Houston has seen since Tuesday.

The next scheduled match-up between UH and the Owls is at 7 p.m. April 18 at Cougar Field.

The Cougars travel to Ohio to take on Conference USA rival Cincinnati in a three-game series beginning Friday. Cougar Baseball is 6-0 in C-USA play.

UH Softball (12-21 overall) planned to take on No. 23 Southwest Texas State in a doubleheader Wednesday at Baseball USA, but the two teams had to cancel those plans as the weather prevented any outdoor action. The match-up has not been rescheduled.

The Cougars hit the road this weekend to take on Conference USA rival Southern Miss. Cougar Softball is 1-2 in C-USA competition after a close three-game series against Louisville last weekend.
