The UH men's golf team is traveling to Los Cabos, Mexico, to compete in the U.S. Intercollegiate Tournament on the El Dorado course.

The team will play today, tomorrow and Sunday. Coverage of Saturday's round will be shown on ESPN from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Final round coverage will be shown on April 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Cougars are still trying to hit their stride and fulfill the potential that made them one of the top-ranked teams at the beginning of the season. Houston is currently ranked No. 33 after disappointing finishes at the Southwestern Collegiate and Las Vegas Intercollegiate Tournaments in March.

"We're playing against the best teams in the country," head coach Mike Dirks said. "The guys just need to get more experience playing in tournaments."

Senior Andy Sanders leads the team and is ranked No. 30 in the Collegiate Golf Rankings. Sanders has the best finish of the team this year, a third-place result at the Red River Classic last fall.

Sanders, junior Wade Ormsby and sophomore Simon Robinson are keys to the success of the Cougars as they play this weekend.

UH is preparing for the ASU Thunderbird Invitational next week and the Conference USA Championship Tournament at the end of April. Sanders, the two-time C-USA champion, is constantly improving and will look to defend his title at the tournament.
