Cougar golfers cross the

The UH men's golf team is traveling to
Los Cabos, Mexico, to compete in the U.S. Intercollegiate Tournament on
the El Dorado course.
The team will play today, tomorrow and
Sunday. Coverage of Saturday's round will be shown on ESPN from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Final round coverage will be shown on April 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Cougars are still trying to hit their
stride and fulfill the potential that made them one of the top-ranked teams
at the beginning of the season. Houston is currently ranked No. 33 after
disappointing finishes at the Southwestern Collegiate and Las Vegas Intercollegiate
Tournaments in March.
"We're playing against the best teams in
the country," head coach Mike Dirks said. "The guys just need to get more
experience playing in tournaments."
Senior Andy Sanders leads the team and
is ranked No. 30 in the Collegiate Golf Rankings. Sanders has the best
finish of the team this year, a third-place result at the Red River Classic
Sanders, junior Wade Ormsby and sophomore
Simon Robinson are keys to the success of the Cougars as they play this
UH is preparing for the ASU Thunderbird
Invitational next week and the Conference USA Championship Tournament at
the end of April. Sanders, the two-time C-USA champion, is constantly improving
and will look to defend his title at the tournament.
