Light the candles: Gary Buchler, student minister and member of the Hillel Foundation of Greater Houston, prepares candles for the memorial service the Campus Ministry Association sponsored, in honor of members of the UH community who passed away in the past year.


The University has recently filed its official responses to two separate lawsuits by former employees.

The archaic images from "Peanuts" of Lucy lounging while Charlie Brown poured his heart out to her are gone. Perhaps an updated version could have Lucy talking on a cell phone while Chuck laments. Discard the cardboard office. Lucy could host her own show daily, nationwide. Instead of limiting her retorts to poor Charlie, her condescending demeanor could have numerous simultaneous recipients.

With the revival of pop music refusing to become a short-lived and trendy guilty pleasure, it is only necessary that acts like 'NSync and Britney Spears pay tribute to one of the genre's most celebrated pioneers.

The UH women's softball team was planning on a trip to Lake Charles, La., for a doubleheader today against McNeese State at 3 p.m. But softball, like all outdoor sports, is at the mercy of mother nature.
