The University's track and field facilities won't be the only ones holding a Conference USA tournament this year.

The UH volleyball team will play host to the 2001 C-USA Volleyball tournament this fall, Nov. 15 to 18, in Hofheinz Pavilion.

UH volleyball head coach Bill Walton and senior hitter Jennifer Wittenburg, who was awarded a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA due to multiple injuries
during her collegiate career, will lead the team through a tough non-conference schedule.

The squad has made it to the NCAA tournament for 10 consecutive seasons and has played one of the most difficult schedules in the nation each year. This
season the Cougars begin with a tournament at Rice held Aug. 31 through Sept. 1.

A&M is one of the team's first opponents. The Aggies finished last season ranked No. 23 in the USA Today coaches poll and knocked UH out of the NCAA
tourney in the first round.

The team's second tournament, held Sept. 7 and 8 in Manhattan, Kan., will feature Kansas State, which ended the 2000 season ranked No. 24. The Cougars'
third tourney, Sept. 14 and 15 in Gainesville, Fla., will feature host Florida, which was ranked No. 10 in the final 2000 USA Today poll.

UH will face a total of seven teams this season that participated in the 2000 NCAA tournament.
