Letters to the Editor

A high volume of letters to the editor,
and a shortage of space,
led us to put today's letters online.

In News Today . . .

There is an old saying: "Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailors' delight." History does not tell us the color of the sky over Galveston Island on the morning of Sept. 8, 1900, but by afternoon, sailors and townsfolk alike knew a terrible storm was brewing.

In Opinion Today . . .

Have you ever hated? Ever felt so angry at someone the spite you held for them could be felt in every fiber of your being? I think Iive hated before in my life. And no, Iim not talking about player-hating. We are dealing with total malcontent toward someone or something.

In Entertainment Today . . .

The Watcher is a new opportunity for Keanu Reeves (The Replacements, The Matrix), James Spader (Supernova) and Marisa Tomei (Slums of Beverly Hills). Reeves gets to be the villain while Spader and Tomei are returning to the silver screen after an absence.

In Sports Today . . .

For three quarters, it seemed as though all the hoopla surrounding the new UH offense was nothing but hype. It could be exciting to watch, but only with the right talent.
