The C.T. Bauer College of Business last week named professor Arthur Warga as its new interim dean. He replaces Jerry Strawser, who served as the interim dean until he was tapped as dean of the business school at Texas A&M University earlier this year.

My life is complete again. After suffering through two weeks of withdrawal, our fine, high-quality newspaper is up and running for the rest of summer. My most sincere condolences, of course, to all members of the UH community who suffered personal losses at the hands of the
torrential rains with the unassuming name of "Allison."

Stone Temple Pilots was unfortunately compared to Pearl Jam when the band debuted with Core in 1992. Critics decried the more melodic
Purple as unoriginal and pandering. But lost amid the comparisons was the fact that STP was more willing to embrace its influences -- namely
bombastic 1970s arena rock bands. Singer Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bass player Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz were Led
Zeppelin, but with shorter, more pop-oriented songs.

After finishing his freshman year with 10.8 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game, many weren't expecting Ford to make it in the draft. But Ford's size upped his stakes.
