Houston 2012 plans need larger track and field stage

Well-thought are the plans for basketball, volleyball, baseball, field hockey, yachting and equestrian events -- which would be in existing or planned facilities -- and for the Olympic Village, which would be constructed in the UH-Texas Southern-Interstate 45 triangle.

Astros charging for head of NL Central

A proposed deal that would have sent Tampa Bay Devil Rays first baseman Fred McGriff to Chicago was vetoed by the Crime Dog himself. Citing he wanted to stay close to his family and that playing for a winner wasn't his main priority, McGriff opted to stay with a last-place club.
