Cougar 'D' almost wins game single-handedly

Junior cross country runner Michael Olague paced all Cougars at the Conference USA Championship in St. Louis, Mo., finishing in second place on Saturday.
Olague was 2.01 seconds behind Tulane's Solomon Kandie for the individual title, completing the 8,000-meter course in 24 minutes, 34.52 seconds. He led the men's team to a seventh-place spot.
Jared Kuntz finished in 26th, Tartou Kargou in 38th, Gary Skinner in 44th, Juan Cardenas in 53rd and Ronnie Martinez in 54th.
South Florida won the men's team championship.
The women's team ended its competition in fifth place, led by Monica Reyna and Julie Perez, who finished the 6,000-meter course in 22nd and 23rd, respectively.
Also, Heather House finished in 32nd, followed by Jessica Oakes in 38th and Karina Quesada in 39th.
Marquette won the women's championship.
