Thanskgiving luau? Why not?
Six days from now, most of us will be sitting
around the television -- err, table -- somewhere enjoying (what we hope
will be) a scrumptious holiday feast. If you're into tradition, you'll
probably be having turkey, dressing, potatoes and pumpkin pie, or lasagna
or gumbo or whatever your tradition happens to be.
November 24, don't buy anything
It can't be denied that America is a consumer
culture. After all, the rest of the world has us to thank for such concepts
as Styrofoam, Wal-Mart and McDonald's.
For the past two months, I have been reading
viewpoints in The Daily Cougar from so-called "progressive" writers who
said Vice President Al Gore was a sell-out and that they would be supporting
the Green Party's Ralph Nader on Election Day.
