Seniors on squad get a

Though the season may be all but over,
UH still has something to play for.
Seniors on the Cougar squad will be taking
their final snaps during UH's game against the Louisville Cardinals on
With the quarterbacking job eventually
falling to someone other than senior Jason McKinley, head coach Dana Dimel
has planned to use freshman backup Bubba Teague this week -- especially
after Teague's high number of snaps against East Carolina.
"(Teague) is going to play, but Jason is
going to play a lot more," Dimel said. "It's (McKinley's) last game and
his back was sore last week. He's feeling 100 percent, so he's going to
play a lot more this week."
McKinley has already thrown for more than
8,550 yards in his UH career.
But other seniors aside from McKinley will
be wearing the Scarlet and White for the last time, including offensive
lineman Josh Lovelady, safety Emile White, linebacker and All-American
candidate Wayne Rogers and wide receiver Kendall Williams. Williams may
play despite being plagued by a sore shoulder.
Dimel has urged the team to "play hard
for the seniors."
He also stressed the importance of playing
well against the Conference USA-leading Cardinals after a 62-20 loss to
East Carolina. Dimel was not pleased with the effort put forth by his players
during the blowout.
"Coming back from last week and playing
hard after not being pleased with our effort last Saturday is the key,"
Dimel said. "We need to make sure we look back on the year and say we played
well at the stadium, because that's something we want to continue to do
as we go on into the program."
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The game will not be televised in Houston, but can be heard on the radio
at KBME-AM 790 and on the Internet at broadcast.com.
