In a surprise move that had been widely hinted at over the Labor Day weekend, Chet Gladchuk, UH's athletics director since 1997, resigned Tuesday to accept a similar job at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.


One particular aspect of this column should immediately jump out at you. It should be particularly startling to everyone who regularly reads my column (you folks are the best!). Matthew E. Caster finally has a face to go with the name. And what a handsome face it is, right?


On the surface, it's a very basic title. There's the ship, which moves up and down and from side to side. There are the enemies, which are there to be shot. The inspiration for the game was the classic title Defender, and it's a pretty nicely done remake.
