Activists take stand, censure

An anti-abortion group unaffiliated with the University displayed posters with graphic depictions of aborted fetuses along the sidewalks of Butler Plaza
(between the M.D. Anderson Memorial Library and Philip Hoffman Hall) for about an hour and a half Monday before leaving under threat of arrest.

School gets playground

Playground construction sponsored by The Alliance for Constructivist Education began Saturday for the UH Charter School, which is now located behind Melcher Gymnasium.

Regents to vote on new building

The UH System Board of Regents will meet at 4 p.m. today in Room 220, Ezekiel Cullen Building, to determine the status of a proposed new science,
engineering and classroom building at UH. If approved, the building would be located west of Science and Research I and Science and Research II, south of the Houston Science Center.

Mothers find it harder to get tenure

Both male and female professors who have children early in their academic careers have the exhausting task of juggling the responsibilities of academic life and parenthood. But according to a recent report published by the Chronicle of Higher Education, it is women, not men, with families who hurt their chances to achieve tenure.
