Regents to vote on new building

Cougar News Services

The UH System Board of Regents will meet at 4 p.m. today in Room 220, Ezekiel Cullen Building, to determine the status of a proposed new science,
engineering and classroom building at UH. If approved, the building would be located west of Science and Research I and Science and Research II, south of
the Houston Science Center.

The building would be approximately 200,000 square feet in area and would consist of two components. One would house 11 classrooms and a 550-seat
teaching theater, and the other would house wet and dry science and engineering research laboratories and common use service areas (including a clean
room, an X-ray laboratory, computational research laboratories and administrative offices).

The proposed source of funds for the building is $51 million in bond proceeds.
