SGA election marred by voting mishaps

The legitimacy of this year's Student Government Association election appears shaky amid charges that the Cougar 1Card system and poll
workers are failing to keep students from voting more than once.

College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dean W. Andrew Achenbaum, who in 2000 presided over the merger of the former College of
Humanities and Fine Arts and the College of Social Sciences, announced his resignation, effective June 30, in a specially called meeting of
the college's faculty Tuesday.
 

Smith testify before Texas House of Represenatives

UH System Chancellor and UH President Arthur K. Smith will testify before the Texas House of Representatives' Joint Interim Committee on
Higher Education Excellence Funding at 10 a.m. today.
 

Sifuentes files three election complaints


The first day of Student Government Association elections Tuesday saw three more complaints filed by independent presidential candidate Fabian Sifuentes, who called for ­ among several remedies ­ the disqualification of Student Voice Party presidential candidate Dawona Miller.
