Assistant Sports Information Director John Sullivan works at his desk Thursday. Sullivan accepted an SID job at Rice after 11 years with the UH
athletics department.

"It's an exciting new opportunity. I'm looking forward to a new beginning," Sullivan said. "I'm proud of my 11 years of service at UH."

Sullivan began working for the Cougar athletic department in August 1990 after graduating in 1988 with a degree in Journalism. His many duties as
assistant SID included media relations for the swimming and diving, baseball, volleyball and golf programs.

Sullivan is a consummate professional who performed his job at UH with enthusiasm and vigor. His kindness and gracious demeanor to reporters
from The Daily Cougar will be sorely missed.

Sullivan will report to Rice University on September 17 to begin his job as a Rice SID.

"I'll probably be up here finishing things until the eleventh hour," Sullivan said.

We sports writers find it only fitting to say "adios" to our friend and mentor John Sullivan with a line from the UH alma mater: "To thy memory
cherished/ True we'll ever be."
