The Houston softball team is gearing up for a three-game series this weekend against Conference USA rival Saint Louis.

The Cougars will face the Billikens at the Billiken Sports Center in St. Louis.

Saint Louis is 20-19 overall, but only 4-12 in conference, making the Billikens No. 8 in a league with only nine teams.

The Cougars started strong this season, but have struggled lately. Houston is 28-19 overall and No. 7 in C-USA, with a 5-9 league record.

Senior outfielder Riane Netardus leads the Cougar offense. Netardus has a .346 batting average with two doubles and two RBIs. Netardus also
leads the team with 13 stolen bases.

Senior second baseman Leslie Seay follows closely behind Netardus with a .333 batting average and has tallied three doubles, three triples
and 12 RBIs. She has stolen six bases in seven attempts.

Freshman Kristen Glowacz also has a batting average of more than .300. The Katy native is hitting .310 and leads the Cougars with a .543
slugging percentage. Glowacz has tallied six home runs, nine doubles and 16 RBIs.

Sophomore catcher Arelis Ferreris has a .287 batting average, but the slugger from Grand Prairie has a .519 slugging percentage and leads the
team with nine home runs and 33 RBIs. Ferreris has also tallied three doubles and six stolen bases in seven attempts.

The Houston pitching staff is holding its own with a combined 2.23 ERA.

Sophomore Jamie Falco is the current leader with a 1.46 ERA and a 12-7 record. Falco, a Tomball native, has tallied 106 strikeouts in 125
innings of work.

Sophomore Jenny Johnson follows with a 2.83 ERA and has 139 strikeouts in 126 and one-third innings of work.

Meanwhile, the Billikens should be formidable opponents.

Janet Venorsky leads the Saint Louis offense with a .344 batting average. Venorsky has 21 RBIs and four home runs.

Adrie Bogaars leads the Billikens in home runs with six and has 21 RBIs.

Nicole Bohnensteihl is the RBI leader with 24 and bats .336 with five home runs.

The three-game series will take place Saturday and Sunday, with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday. The series finale will be 1 p.m.
Sunday.
