Golf team still in fifth at C-USA

The UH men's golf team remained in fifth place following the second round of play at the Conference-USA Championships on Tuesday. The
tournament is being held at The Club at Hidden Creek in Navarre, Fla.

The team improved on its first-round score, but could not move up in the standings at the event. Houston shot 290 in the second round, four
strokes better than its first-round score.

Texas Christian leads the team event, shooting 283 in the second round, a five-stroke lead over second-place Alabama-Birmingham in the
14-team tournament. TCU is the only team under par through the first two rounds.

The Cougars have won the C-USA championships all five years UH has been a member of the conference.

Junior Simon Robinson, who leads the team in scoring average, shot a three-under-par 69 in the second round. Robinson is tied for sixth at
one-under-par 143.

Junior Brett Callas is tied for 22nd place with a score of 147. Fellow junior John Wine scored 149 to tie for 34th. Sophomore Scott Ferguson is
tied for 41st at 150.

Sophomore Brad McIntosh is in 45th place at 151. McIntosh, the defending C-USA Tournament individual champion, is second on the team in
scoring average.

In the individual competition, TCU's Bret Guetz is 10 under par for the first two rounds. Saint Louis' Evan Frederick is second just two strokes
behind. UAB's Ryan Thomas, East Carolina's Jason Harris and South Florida's Tele Wightman round out the top five.

The final round begins at 7 a.m. today.
