Students watch the unfolding
tragedy on a small television set up inside the University Center.
At UH yesterday, no doubt like every other place in the United
States, one topic of discussion held sway -- the multi-targeted terrorist
attack that took untold lives in New York City and Washington, D.C.
Yesterday's events brought a shift from the norm, to say the
least. As I walked through my living room yesterday on the way to class,
my friends sat wide-eyed around a television screen showing black smoke
billowing from the World Trade Center. My first class consisted not of
the usual lecture, but of standing in front of a TV looking on in shock
as the towers collapsed and the Pentagon caught on fire.
To hear fans talk, Kevin Smith is a genius. Jay and Silent
Bob Strike Back is touted as the culmination of years of endless preparation.
What began with the independent Clerks comes full circle, with that
film's most endearing characters Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Smith)
returning to the silver screen.
The soccer match against Southeastern Louisiana originally
scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for today at 3 p.m. This change
is due to unexpected travel delays by Southeastern Louisiana.
