New center opens in Sugar Land

Cougar News Services

The main campus isn't the only campus undergoing changes during the summer. Faculty and staff at the UH System in Sugar Land will move
into new accommodations at a teaching center Friday.

Visitors and students will be able to visit the new center, located in Sugarland in on Aug. 14. Building contributors, elected officials and civic
leaders will be present for a grand opening ceremony Aug. 23. The campus will have an open house for residents later in the fall.

The center houses 26 general and interactive TV classrooms, an academic services center, a community education room, an electronic library
resource center, a computer lab, a multi-purpose multimedia lab and student and faculty lounges.

About 2,000 students are expected for the fall semester at Cinco Ranch, said Sharon Baca, the center's director.

The UH System at Sugar Land campus offers courses toward more than 30 degrees from the UH main campus, UH-Downtown, UH-Clear Lake
and UH-Victoria.

For more information about Cinco Ranch, call 281-275-3300 before Friday or after Aug. 13.
