Angelika to show cult films

By Geronimo Rodriguez
The Daily Cougar

As part of its Sensational Cinema program, the Angelika Film Center will run a Quentin Tarantino Double Feature. The filmmaker's directorial
debut Reservoir Dogs and his Pulp Fiction will show August 9-15.

In Pulp Fiction, Vincent Vega (John Travolta) (left) and Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) dance to an oldie-but-goodie at Jackrabbit Slim's.
Tarantino's film will be showing at the Angelika Film Center from Aug. 9-15.

Maybe Tarantino is in a motel room writing his next screenplay with hopes that it will be just as thrilling as his earlier works, now considered cult
classics.

Maybe the former video store employee is quietly living off the success of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, sitting on yet another mind-numbing,
plot-tangling script.

But before we ask whether the writer/director/actor will soon return to the red carpet, filmgoers should take the opportunity to view these classics
yet again on the silver screen.

While the film world didn't actually embrace Tarantino's cutting directing style and blood-ridden plot in Reservoir Dogs, video stores could hardly
keep copies on the shelf.

With Pulp Fiction, Tarantino sparked a surge in independent films.

Both films are even edgier than those of today and, without a doubt, deserve to be a part of Sensational Cinema. For show times and the
theater's location, please visit their Web site at www.angelikafilmcenter.com.
