Insults, gaffes highlight third mayoral debate

In a contest marked by one-liners, verbal gaffes and shrill backbiting, the three major candidates in the Houston mayoral race met face-to-face in the third and last of their televised debates Thursday night.
 

Activist accuses CIA of corruption

An internationally famed human-rights activist spoke at UH on Wednesday evening about the ways in which alleged corruption within the CIA and other government agencies contributed to the death of her husband.
 

Book loans may soon increase

Textbooks could become easier to purchase, and might garner higher buyback rates, if two pieces of student government legislation passed Wednesday get the OK from UH President and UH System Chancellor Arthur K. Smith.
