They are the bane of every football fan in the country, the cur every coach would love to kick. Like the blind seer Teiresias in Oedipus Rex, they foretell a destiny no one else can see.
 

Reign of terror reaches five games

The Houston volleyball team trampled East Carolina on Friday and then hammered Charlotte on Saturday to win its fourth and fifth consecutive games. The Cougars have been on a tear since head coach Bill Walton benched his starters against No. 12 Hawaii on Oct. 3 for lackadaisical play.
 

Swimmers leave Mean green in wake; Pakhalina scores high ponts in diving

The Houston swimming and diving team defeated North Texas on Saturday to open its home season with a win. The 184-112 victory at the UH Natatorium improved the Cougars' record to 1-2 on the season.
