Former NSM dean succumbs to cancer

John Butler, a former geosciences professor and dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, died Wednesday after a struggle with cancer. He was 59 and would have turned 60 on Oct. 31.
 

Now UH educates on women's issues

The UH chapter of the National Organization for Women held a meeting and empowerment workshop Wednesday to bring a variety of women's issues to students' attention.
 

AIM leader speaks of grievances

A Presbyterian minister leading a regiment of U.S. soldiers in an early-morning massacre of unarmed Native Americans flying American flags over their tents. The kidnapping of Indian children from reservations and their placement in boarding schools, where they were forced to give up their culture and were not allowed to visit or write home. The covert sterilization of 40 percent of Native American women living on reservations.
