Tight elections causes runoff for mayoral office

Houston Mayor Lee P. Brown will face outgoing City Councilman Orlando Sanchez in a future runoff election to determine whether he will serve a third
term.

Bush: Bin Laden is 'an evil man'

President George W. Bush, in comments that ratcheted up his rhetoric against the al-Qaida organization of suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, said he believed bin Laden is capable of using weapons of mass destruction.

Economic recovery likely by 2003

While the Sept. 11 attacks and the ensuing war against terrorism have exacerbated the economic downturn of the United States and Houston, the
picture will begin looking better in the not-too-distant future, a UH economics professor said Tuesday.
