Softball team signs recuits

Cougar Sports Services

The Houston Cougar softball team signed two players during the fall early-decision signing period. The Cougars were interested in several
players and landed these two highly coveted athletes.

The first player to sign was Brandi Clark, from Missouri City. Clark attended Elkins High School. At UH, she will be pursuing a degree in
education. She was a member of the Katy Cruisers Gold National Championship team in 2000-01 as a utility player.

Clark was a Second Team All-District selection in 2001 and First Team All-District in 1999 and 2000, and has played several field positions in
her high school career. Her high school team won the district championship in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

The second player who has been added to the Cougars' roster is Brooke Johnson. The Huntsville, Ala., native is an outstanding outfielder for
Grissom High School. Johnson was named to the Alabama All-State team in 2001, and was a three time All-City and All-Metro selection. She
was voted softball team captain by her teammates, won the team Most Valuable Player award in 2001 and won the team's award for best
offensive player in both 2000 and 2001.

Johnson also led her team to a state championship in 1999. In addition to her prowess in softball, Johnson played volleyball for Grissom.

The Cougars will look forward to these players joining the team in Fall 2002. The Cougars are still looking to sign more recruits during the
Spring signing period.
