The UH Women's Association is accepting
applications for the 2002-03 Mary Harding Hoffman Scholarships, including
of UH Employees scholarships and two Ella
Margaret Hawes Women in Transition scholarships.
The Children of UH Employees Scholarship
awards $1,000 to children or grandchildren of full-time or retired UH System
Students applying must be enrolled or
accepted into an approved undergraduate or graduate degree program.
Half of the scholarship is awarded at the
beginning of the semester, with students needing to show satisfactory progress
to be given
the remaining $500. Scholarships will
be awarded on the basis of academic achievement and leadership qualities.
Applications must be postmarked by March

The Ella Margaret Hawes Women in Transition
Scholarship awards up to $500 to qualified UH female students. It is open
non-traditional students who, "through
certain circumstances, have decided to attend UH."
Applicants must be the spouse or child
of an employee or retiree of the UH system, be enrolled in an approved
graduate degree program and be enrolled
in six credit hours per semester.
A selection committee will conduct personal
interviews of finalists.
As with the previous scholarship, students
must show progress to receive the second half of the award.
