Git along lil' doggies: The Texas Independent Trail Riders make their way through the Gulf Freeway feeder to Memorial Park before the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officially kicks off with a parade Saturday. The trail ride started in Brazoria.

The usual foibles of the typical high school student acne, peer pressure and the prom were replaced with the more global-encompassing issues of terrorism and the World Bank at the 27th Annual Houston Area Model United Nations on Thursday.


An article in the Washington Post disturbed me recently. It reported that the New Jersey Department of Education had revised its history standards. It added some names and deleted a few from the list of historical figures who would be covered in the history classes of the state's public schools.


Revenge to inflict punishment in return for (injury or insult); to seek or take vengeance for (oneself or another person); avenge; the act
of taking vengeance for injuries or wrongs; retaliation. 


The Horned Frogs average 87.9 points per game, third in the nation. Junior Blount leads the Frogs in scoring with 16 points per game while Corey Santee, Bingo Merriex and Jamal Brown all average in double figures.
