through Tuesday.

The UH swimming and diving team heads to Indianapolis for the Conference USA championships this weekend.

The Cougars will compete against Texas Christian, East Carolina, Saint Louis, Cincinnati and Louisville.

"It's great to be part of a conference," head coach Ginger Hurley said. "We're going to the fastest pool in the nation to compete in
the first-ever C-USA championship."

Each swimmer is allowed the opportunity to swim in only three events to earn points, so it is important to calculate where each
swimmer will be most valuable.

Since the old Southwest Conference was dissolved, Houston has competed in various other tournaments, including the
National Independent Conference championship.

The NIC tournament generally had 10 teams involved, and with only six, the C-USA competition will be weaker than previous
tournaments.

Cincinnati will be a familiar foe for Houston. The Bearcats have participated in the NIC championships with Houston.
