SFAC resumes despite snags

The Student Fees Advisory Committee begins its final day of presentations at 8:45 a.m. today in the Bayou City Room of the University Center.
The open meeting will conclude with an address from Vice President for Student Affairs Elwyn C. Lee at 2:30 p.m.

SFAC is scheduled to deliberate Monday and Wednesday and will have a report ready to present to Lee and UH President Arthur K. Smith on
Friday.

Despite some snags, Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students William Munson said things had been running
smoothly. Munson is an ex-officio member of SFAC.

Athletics and the Child Care Center are supposed to have updated requests to the committee by the time it begins deliberations. Athletics'
original request was for $3.7 million, but its corrected figure should be closer to $3.1 million.

"The amount they used for their budget next year was erroneous," Munson said. "I have talked to (Senior Associate Athletics Director Larry
Leckonby) and he's going to provide us with an accurate proposal."

At the request of SFAC, the Child Care Center will re-submit a proposal, with $4,000 added to its original $97,417 figure. The additional funds
would be allocated to staff development.
