OPINION

Having a social life is as important as studying
The time has finally arrived. Like a man impregnated by the insatiable desire to graduate, I have only nine months left before I am finally out on
my own.

The new is a little bit depressing these days
Looking for some world news? Here's a fat slice: At a ranch in the western Mexican state of Michoacan, eight men and women were lined up
against a wall and shot with assault rifles and pistols, the victims ranging in age from 19 to 49, in what reports suspect could have been a
drug-related massacre.

Columnist charges readers to submit their own opinions
Welcome back, Cougars. The Fall 2002 semester embraces us, and like the rest of the University community, the Daily Cougar is ready to get
back into the swing of things. Before we begin another term of Sports columns, comic strips, informative advertisements and headline action, I
would like to take this opportunity to clarify some issues from the newspaper's recent past.

Letters to the Editor
Through an agreement with a private ranch, the University will soon have a location for environmental studies aimed at protecting natural resources and wildlife on the Texas coast.
